on the patient
leather couch she describes
waterslides

funneling her out
bikini
breached and gone

the classic dream
bellyflop
snatched hastily by

big hands into
tut tut towels (had
she been allowed

to swim who knows
what shames) without
her chance to explain

why the blue line thinned
even as she'd swelled and
reddened (abrasive

child) or how
as the whole
initiative

spiraled into fear
and cameras
clicked and chirruped

she'd stuck out all her limbs
and braced
like the spokes of a wheel
